Joel Gagne is a Camera Operator and Director of Photography based in North Bay, Canada who specializes in Commercial, Narrative, and Documentary Film.

in the year of 2000, Joel was born with profound bilateral hearing loss. Through many hours of auditory verbal therapy and the use of a Cochlear Implant, Joel is able to listen and speak clearly. He has shown that even with a disability, other members of the deaf community can pursue their goals and do it at a high level.

 

Joel realized his passion for filmmaking during his 2 year pursuit as an athlete on the FIS Alpine Ski circuit with the National Ski Academy in Collingwood, Ontario. This 2 year pursuit brought Joel to many places and is what urged him to pick up a camera any chance he could.

After his time as an athlete, Joel has since worked on a variety of productions ranging from Documentary, Music Videos, Narrative, Commercial. Most notably, Joel recently was a camera operator for a feature length documentary titled "Goats and Roses" which took place in Iceland.
